I just picked up a copy from Amazon to share with my two children.

I just bought a copy from ABE Books for my son. He’s only 14 months but already I am anticipating the complexity of introducing him to scripture, and I need all the good resources I can get! (I was raised on “The Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes,” incidentally, which I think is a great title.)

I just purchased a copy for my son from ABE books. He’s only 14 months, so won’t spend much time with it yet. But am anticipating wrestling with the complex and difficult stories of the Bible as I try to teach him… need all the good resources I can get!

Myth and mythos are both important for developing a common understanding of a culture’s values. I love how the Bible is full of story, all bring us the one great Story.

The Taize Bible is so much better for its straightforwardness. It doesn’t try to be cute. It doesn’t try to appeal. It’s just well written and well illustrated.

The illustrations (most of them) are actually quite lovely in the JSB, but largely agree with your analysis. Yet, JSB is such a HUGE seller. Is it because it feels weird to just read scripture to children without pre-digesting it for them?
